who would / wade out into / the interactive map / of human suffering

The Path One Cannot Be Dissuaded From

On one shore a line of men
armed as though
against lamentation

and on the other those
who would breach
headwinds, who would

wade out into
the interactive map
of human suffering

On no shore everyone else
and the future as a beige sectional
couch metastasizing

Hajara Quinn lives in Portland OR. She is an assistant editor for Octopus Books, Program Director at the IPRC, and the author of the chapbook Unnaysayer (Flying Object 2013). Her poems have appeared in Gramma Daily, Gulf Coast, The Volta and Sixth Finch and her first book, Coolth, is forthcoming from Big Lucks Books in 2017.
